Today i went for the dialogue in the dark and my guide was Mr. William.
I enjoyed myself a lot during the visit and i do recommend all those that has not tried it to try.
He really made an impact by opening my eyes to the challenges that the visually impaired faces.
I wont talk much about what happened inside, cause i don't wanna spoil the fun for people.
And its not really the point of this post.
But its really worth while if ya wanna go! its open to public!
He told me that he didn't have much time for his family in the past as he was a business man.
I guess everyone in the business line would not have much time for their family, working, entertaining. Feeding the sharks and getting bitten.
He shared with us how depression almost got to him that he wouldn't even want to leave his house.
I don't think that i can ever imagine his pain, or rather, ever be as strong as him.
He says that he keeps himself happy and positive cause that is all that keeps him sane.
What else can he do right? And for this, i respect him for that.
He is 58 this year, happily married with 2 kids.
The family is his main source of support and strength.
One of my group mate asked him, if he were to gain back his sight, what would be the first thing he would do?
His answer: " I would want to see my wife face and my children, to see how they look now and look at the changes."
Such a simple thing in life, that we, who can see, take for granted. We are able to see our love ones, where he cannot.
He also added on that: "Being blind is like a blessing in disguise, i use to have no time for my family, but being blind, i have plenty of time for them."
How many of us would be able to get up after that? How many of us can be so contented like him?
I feel that people who are able to see, are less happier than him.
So to Mr William. Thank you for impacting me so.
I know that I'm just another customer, but i learned a lot! :)
I want to be like him, in the sense, being happy about the situation now. Being positive.
Cause when you reached rock bottom, what else can you do?
I hope that people realize that there are others who has it worst.
That they do not think that their pain is lesser than of others.
Embrace what life throw at us. :) |
